Adobe Premier Pro – Aimed more at prosumer market

adobe premier pro
Adobe spent two and a half years to rewrite the popular and Adobe Premier. The latest version of Adobe Premiere 6.5, Adobe Premiere Pro effectively is version 7.0 of this package widely used. Some might argue that Premiere is not really a “professional” video editing package, but aimed more at the Prosumer market. Adobe has been trying to dispel that idea and runs the product in the type of professional who normally use Final Cut Pro.

There have been several workflow improvements to make it more intuitive and to reduce the development of tools and menus to achieve a desired result. Unlike previous versions of Premiere, Adobe Premiere Pro does not have the food YUV DV and make it to work in RGB and then converted into YUV for export to tape. In fact, working directly with YUV saving time, space and a bit of quality too. A project can now support many nested sequences edited, and you can switch immediately from one to another using the tabs above the timeline. You can have multiple containers on a project and expand or reduce a tree like structure that Windows users find intuitive.

Other important advantages:

  • Audio mixer very good – better than Final Cut Pro’s.
  • As expected Adobe Premiere Pro integrates well with other applications like Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Encore, etc.
  • Multi-line publication of his full time to VCD, SVCD, web or editing and publishing while many “as he likes to call Adobe. No third party applications like Cleaner (Final Cut), or multi-step conversion required.
  • The improved batch capture: Unlink captured material lets you capture in DV format, no editing, untie and retrieve files in HD format.
  • Better support for SMP environments: Scalability has been improved. Adobe Premiere Pro makes better use of Symmetric Multi-processor dual-processor, ie processor hyperthreading multiple facilities. The theory is that more can throw at it more performance that will come out of Adobe Premiere Pro

Major disadvantages:

  • Adobe Premiere Pro is not available for the Apple platform.
  • Adobe Premiere Pro is not optimized for 64 bit processing, which is a shame because Premiere Pro hits the market as well as 64 bit processing is becoming the buzzword in the hardware industry.
  • It seems that Adobe Premiere Pro for Intel-based systems over those based on AMD. While we do not have a problem with Intel would like to see us perform well across the board and optimized for both platforms, especially in the AMD dual processor-based computer systems are far more affordable than dual Xeon. In fact, it works on some AMD systems at all!
  • Transitions limited compared to what competitors offer.
  • Despite improved design that feels cluttered and cramped in a single monitor.
